Quick Update

There has been blog silence lately, but there has been sewing going on behind the scenes. I worked on B5558 until I got to the zipper... and discovered I didn't have one in my stash!
This is a preliminary photo. You can see the fabric choices clearly- seersucker for the bodice, linen for the skirt, and dotted poly satin for the lining. The back is just pinned and the bodice needs a good pressing. You can even see the markings across the bottom of the waist pleats- which I still need to remove.

I was able to get a zipper this weekend, so I should be able to get back to work on this immediately. Unfortunately, since I'm working evenings and my photographers all go to school early in the morning, the earliest I might be able to have finished photos is next weekend.

While I was waiting to aquire a zipper, I wasn't idle. I traced a couple of things from the May issue of Burda Style and got to work on them. The first is dress #130 from the Plus Update:

It's a pretty simple dress- only three pieces to trace! I cut it out of a cotton gauze... and quickly came to hate it. It's got to be one of the most difficult fabrics I've ever worked with. I'm going to finish it, though, so stay tuned for a complete review soon.

The next project was the tunic #103 From the Natural Colours photo shoot:

I'm not much of a tunic person, but this really interested me, so I decided to cut it out of purple satin with a stylised aninal print, somewhat similar to the model:

There is also a dress version of this pattern, and if the tunic turns out, I might make the dress also.

This is a great issue of Burda Style. There are so many things I want to make! But for now, it's back to work on the Butterick dress, and then on to these two projects which are already cut out, and in the case of the dress, almost done.

How's your sewing going?

I like this issue of Burda too. I am way backed-up on my sewing, and probably need to edit my backlog of choices down!

I didn't even know I needed this issue. Thanks for the heads up. I really like that raglan sleeve dress. I'm looking forward to seeing your version.

ha!! I envy your patience.I keep looking at my copy of the May Burda, knowing I want to make some things from there, but when I think of all the tracing, I quickly put it down. Looking forward to see how your dresses turn out.
