Just Another Manic Sunday

After I finished Kitty Mittens yesterday, I puttered around the sewing room trying to decide what to work on next. I got out the pattern pieces from Burda 09-2009-138 and made a couple more adjustments to them (petite adjustment above the bust and another 1/2" of length at the waist) and then laid them out on some cool twill print I've been hoarding.

Sigh... There wasn't enough fabric. And nothing else in my stash was crying out to be made up into that pattern, so I put it away. After moping about for a while, I decided to cut into those luscious Dolce fat quarters I got back in January. What better way to get back on track and feel better than to cut into some high quality quilting cotton and sew some simple, straight seams!

Here are some of the first blocks I made:
I love these fabrics! There are a couple of them that I want to order yardage of because they are so awesome! That orange rocks!

You will be seeing more of these until I get the quilt top finished.

So today I had to make a run to my least favorite place on Earth- Walmart- and I decided to make it worth my while by picking up a couple of the latest Simplicity patterns.

Check this out, Simplicity 2403:

I love this dress, er, dresses! I truly think they designed this just for me. You will definitely be seeing this dress made up here on this blog... as soon as I decide which one to make first!

Then there's Simplicity 2404, a simple sheath in three versions:

This is a very simple pattern, but I love the lines (it's a shoulder princess) and it's got separate pieces for different cup sizes. It's like a blank canvas that you can build on with your favorite fabrics, trims, etc.
And because the Princess is needing new spring clothes, I got Simplicity 2436:

I love the A-line shape, the seaming details (center front seam and darts), and all the different design options including zippers, pockets, and chains! I can't wait to try this out!
How about you? Did you have a good weekend?

I no longer set foot in our Wal-Mart. We no longer have fabric or sewing notions. So disappointing. I used to say,'if Wally World doesn't have it, you don't need it.' Now, I say,'if Dollar General doesn't have it, you don't need it'.
