Little Red Dress

Annika is done!

Just in time for school tomorrow!

I just love this little dress. It's very much a "little girl" dress, but not so much that it looks baby-ish. The neckline is lower and wider than a traditional square yoke dress. The sleeves, although slightly gathered, do not have a band or a cuff. And the skirt, while quite full and swingy, is not gathered to the bodice. It's a great look for a young lady.

The dress buttons all the way down the back.

It's a great pattern to showcase smocking without looking too young. The Princess is pleased with it.

I'm pretty pleased with it, too, and I'm pretty sure we'll be making it again!

This dress is adorable. I agree that it looks more grown than some smocked dress patterns I've seen.

I love it! I don't have this pattern, but I can see that when Sydney gets older I will surely be making some of these! I love the neckline and the overall shape is so flattering to young girls bodies. Very pretty. and your smocking is wonderful and looks great with that fabric. Bravo!!!! Piper

Thanks for the kind comments, y'all. They are much appreciated.

Marybee- yes, the pattern goes together just perfectly. The directions are a little sparse, but not confusing or badly written. I'm thinking about making this again with some more stash fabric!
